Where do most felons work?
Dorcas Morak
Getting a job is always difficult after serving jail time. But one of the best ways to get a good job is to put yourself in the right places. By being in the right place, you will make yourself available for the next opportunity.
This starts with knowing where most felons work. There are millions of people in America with a criminal record, and a good number of these people have a job. So, if you take note of the companies, businesses, and departments that are hiring them, you can make wiser decisions.
Before you learn any skill or start any apprenticeship program, have a look at where other felons are succeeding. Even if you are diligent, you may be missing out on a lot of opportunities because you are applying to the wrong places. So, to reduce rejection and increase your chances of gainful employment, follow a career path that is related to the ones mentioned here.
Felons easily work in restaurants
Big restaurant chains like KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell are known to always hire felons. As a result, it should come as no surprise that many felons are easily hired by them. They also pay well and do not discriminate.
Due to the high number of vacancies in these restaurants, they hardly check the criminal records of applicants interested in entry-level roles. This means that if you are patient, you can climb towards a higher position with every promotion. So go learn skills that are needed in restaurants and start applying them.
Felons easily work in retail companies
Walmart, Costco, Safeway, and other store chains are known to hire felons from time to time. And just like the restaurants, they hardly carry out background checks on entry-level positions.
So, unless you are applying for a managerial role, your criminal record does not matter. Even if you want such a role, you can still get the job. It all depends on your qualifications and the nature of your conviction.
Felons make good marketers
Felons are known to succeed in the field of marketing, but the reason is not really clear. What should matter more to you is that this industry is felon-friendly and you can secure employment as a marketer.
Once you get the necessary qualifications and experience, you can become a marketing leader. And leaders or marketing teams make a lot of money as salaries and they also get commissions.
Felons do well in the tech industry
Thanks to the freelancing options available with careers in tech, your felony record will not mean much to clients. No one will care about your background as long as you have the skills to do the job.
Many felons are excelling as web designers, graphic designers, technical writers, digital marketers, data analysts, etc., and no one is asking about their past.
