Associate Product Designer

Description

As Associate Product Designer at FBN, your main focus will be to create intuitive product experiences for new and existing features across the FBN platform. You will work directly with our farmer members to understand their needs and motivations, conduct user research, interviews and surveys, and translate insights into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. The Associate Product Designer will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing.

At FBN, the pace is fast with an expectation that designers own multiple projects at once, while efficiently managing priorities between various stages of the design process. In a given week, you may be working through interaction flows on a new project, thinking through ways to improve the design of an existing feature, and getting feedback on a prototype.

Role

• Focus on hands-on UI/UX design and process. You will own this project end-to-end.
• Conduct  user research, and translate user feedback into creative design solutions
• Deliver a thoughtful range of potential solutions in support of any challenge, obsessing over details and organizing artifacts with care.
• Frame all work through the lens of desired outcomes and the creation of basic UX artifacts (e.g. journey maps, wire flows, IA documentation)
• Create sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and design specs necessary to guide development of product experiences

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working in either a UX or product design role, or a graduate degree in Industrial Design, Human Centered Design, Graphic Design, or Human-Computer Interaction.
• Ability to interpret strategic direction into successful design explorations.
• Showcase design ownership, with the ability to accept and implement feedback.
• Experience defining user flows and interaction design
• An understanding of a mobile-first philosophy, and the ability to display this approach with work samples.
• Ability to work closely with multiple-cross functional stakeholders
• Eager to develop new skills, engage with a variety of user types, and continuously hone your design craft
• Interest and willingness to participate in farm visits in the midwest to better engage with and understand our farmer members. No prior experience in agriculture is needed.
• A portfolio that demonstrates concrete examples of your own contribution, and point of view as part of a product team.

Nice to Have

• Experience in systems thinking, and developing solutions that goes beyond a digital product to include people, process, and other components
• Working with and utilizing design systems
• High proficiency in Figma or Sketch.

The following represents FBN’s reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range of possible compensation for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $100,000 – $120,000. 

This salary range may vary based on geography and variations in cost of labor. Beyond the above or adjusted to market salary range, FBN also offers all full-time employees competitive equity compensation, health and wellness benefits, and various perks.
