It’s the secret sauce that makes companies stand out in the cluttered internet industry. Now, I know SEO might sound like a complex maze, but fear not! I’m here to guide you through it all, making it very simple to understand.  We’ll dive into the world of SEO in this post and cover all the information and SEO Tools you need to make a career as an SEO Analyst. So, buckle up and get ready for an enlightening journey into the realm of SEO! Let’s get started!

What is SEO?

Hey there! Ever wondered how some websites seem to magically appear at the top of Google’s search results? Well that’s the magic of SEO. It gives your website a good place in the search engine results.

So, let’s break it down: SEO is all about tweaking your website so that it pops up when people search for stuff related to your business. For example, imagine you’re selling handmade jewelry. With good SEO, when someone types “unique handmade jewelry” into Google, your website could be one of the first things they see. Pretty cool, right? It’s like rolling out the red carpet for potential customers, making it easier for them to find and fall in love with what you offer.

How does SEO work?

SEO is not a day’s practice. It takes months and a lot of tactics, including playing around with keywords, links, and much more. This is a game of increasing visibility and ranking in the search engine. So, firstly, let me make you understand, with visibility and rankings, what I actually mean.

Visibility: The moment we search something by typing some keywords or keyphrases, there are some domains that appear in our window. These domains have higher visibility for those keywords. Let’s understand this with an example: searching for an SEO course in New Jersey, I typed SEO training courses in New Jersey, and I got some results mentioned in the picture below. These domains have higher visibility for that particular keyphrase.

Let’s move ahead to rankings.

Rankings: This is similar to your school’s grading system. The better you perform, the better your grades will be. Rankings are similar; this is how search engines decide which position to give a specific web page in the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). Like you can have just one grade at a time, so can your web pages. Also, just as your grades can change depending on your performance, so can the ranking of your web page. Factors like age, competition in SERP, or algorithm changes made by search engines affect the rankings of your web pages over time.

How does Google rank your webpage?

As said above, ranking is like your grading system; it is evaluated by the performance of your webpage. Google just wants to show the most relevant content to its users. So, the most popular web page, or the most authoritative one, is ranked first. There are four factors that help Google rank the webpage: quality, relevance, usability, and context. Let’s understand in detail all these factors.

The first thing Google looks for is the relevancy between the search query and the content on your web page. It usually depends on the keywords, topics, etc. For example, if someone wants to have information about Albert Einstein, then a web page with keywords like “Albert Einstein,”  “biography of Albert Einstein,”  “scientists,”  “knowing about Albert Einstein,” etc. will appear first.

The quality of the content matters. Google looks for authoritative and trustworthy web pages. Your content should be such that other sources link to it. It should showcase your experience and expertise. You just can’t stuff the keywords and put up basic information.

The user-friendly sites outperform the ones that are difficult to use. Google chooses high-speed sites that are easily accessible. Also, since most of the Google searches (around 57%) are done on mobile devices, mobile friendliness matters.

You must have wondered how you have been presented with your local ads and the ads for the products or services you have previously shown interest in. This is what context means on Google. In order to deliver accurate and useful search results to its users, Google relies on searchers past behavior and surrounding information.

Ever wondered what SEO analysts actually do? Well, they’re like digital wizards, working their magic to boost website rankings in those all-important Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). And guess what? If you’re thinking of diving into the world of SEO, mastering these four key factors is a must for your journey to success.

Now, by this point, you should have a basic idea of what SEO is all about and whether it’s good for you or not. If you think yes, its for you then let’s dig deeper into how you can turn your interest into a full-blown career. Trust me, it’s gonna be an exciting ride!
