Despite being founded in 2012, Instacart has risen to become one of the biggest retail companies in America. They are always hiring new workers, and felons are not disqualified after a background check.

If you want to work with Instacart, there are important things you need to know before submitting your application. First of all, understand what they look for in background checks.

What does Insacart look for in a background check?

Irrespective of the intended position, all applicants go through a background check. This is because a criminal record or a felony is not the only thing they check for at Instacart.

Instacart will check your driving history to see if you have had a DUI case or any other issue. They will also check for pornographic crimes, education records, credit history, and employment records.

So you see, a felony is not the only thing they will look for. So, if your past crime is not related to the job you are applying for, you may get the job ahead of another person without a criminal record.

The background check will go back seven years. But if you are applying for a sensitive position, they will have to dig more into your past.

At Instacart, a background check is done any time there is a new hire. But an additional one can be done whenever a person is getting promoted. This is because the new position might come with different responsibilities. And they need to be sure you have no past offenses related to those new responsibilities.

To complete a background check, Insacrt will require the following documents:

  • Your credit report.
  • Your social security number.
  • A utility bill or any document to verify your place of residence.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • An authorization form.
  • A detailed copy of your employment history.
  • Your educational qualifications.

After you consent to the background check, it can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks. If it takes more than two weeks, then there is an issue with the documents you provided.

Always try to be as authentic as possible with every document you send and anything you say. While a crime may not disqualify you, a sign of dishonesty will.

What determines your chances of success?

Your credentials and experience are the most important factors. If you have been working fruitfully in the proposed role before you were convicted, your chances will be higher.

Your honesty is also an important factor because any sign of deception will be met with immediate disqualification.

If the job you like is closely related to your past cruise, you may have to find another role. This is because Instacart will not employ you to handle money if you have been convicted of theft or fraud. Neither will they employ you to drive if you have had a DUI case.

That is how it works, so apply for a role that is far from your past crimes.
